Our newest Discovery Exotic model is the cutaway travel model DBT TCEBW, based on our best selling Black Walnut instruments but scaled down to a perfect travel ready size.We select the finest Himalayan Spruce for our tops and marry that with American Black Walnut timber to give the perfect blend of style and substance.Each instrument is carefully braced for a warm and rich acoustic tone and we fit an onboard EX4 EQ system for players who need studio or stage compatibility.Each model has a unique grain pattern, no two Walnut trees are the same, and this run right through to our instruments.We select models at the timber yard that are well figured and striking so that you can be sure that you have a heirloom instrument to play and pass on for future players.SHAPE Travel Super Folk
Discovery The Concept
Tanglewood recognise that to introduce people to music an instrument must have a high build quality, good playability, attractive cosmetics and as many features as possible to encourage and reward aspiring musicians.Using this design brief, Tanglewood luthiers created the Discovery Exotic series, a whole range of genuine musical instruments which feature 4 band EQ systems with stage backlighting, delicate 2mm fingerboard dots, black soft touch machine head buttons and understated sound hole rosettes. All these features are aimed at bringing the specification of a much more expensive instrument into the entry level market.
